Telephone Pole???

When we took Carson to his 15 mos appt, the doctor said we need to start working on his speech. He currently isn't using words to say what he wants, just "ma ma ma ma" for everything. So we told Christian that when Carson wants something or we see something we need to say "Carson, say shoes" or "Carson, say bottle". So Christian thinks this is his new mission. He looks out the car window and says "Carson... say Tel-e-phone Pole" Chris and I couldn't stop laughing. Maybe we should start out a little smaller buddy :o)

Christian and one of his main squeezes, Marley.
Little Carson got his first stitches this week at 15 mos old.... he hit his head on the corner of a bookshelf. He already has hit his head above his right eyebrow on our front porch. I have a feeling we will be spening a lot of time at the hospital with this kiddo!

Crazy Anderson Cousins

We were so fortunate to get together with everyone in Charlotte last month. Everyone was there.... Bonnie, Julie and the kids, Doug, Sonia and Alicia, Pal and Dale, Andrea and Colby, Amy, Bob and Dylan, Debbie and Charlie, Chris and I and the kids. While we were there, Chris spent one evening with his dad, Bonnie and Pal just telling old stories and having a great time. He wrote down a lot of those stories. What a special time to spend with his family learning all about their history. I've included a picture of the crazy cousins that, no doubt, will be seen for years and everyone will wonder... what were they doing???

Just last week, we lost Pal. Pal was such a major part of the Anderson clan. He is the one who coordinated so many of the Andersonfests at the beach and really encouraged everyone to get together. We decided the other day that we really need to continue Pal's legacy and keep everyone getting together at least once a year. We are blessed that we all live in the southeast and can make that happen.

Carson is One!!!!

We had such a great weekend up at the lake celebrating Carson's birthday! Good friends, good food, good boating and a messy cake eating baby. Here are a couple before and after pictures of Carson eating his birthday cake.

Chris has been working so hard to re-create our front yard. After 2 years, we have beautiful results. Wonderful grass, new front steps and inviting sidewalk. He just painted our shutters and front door black instead of green. You'd barely recognize it. I'm glad he's so handy!

Memorial Day- Going Tubing

Christian went tubing on the boat for the first time this weekend. He wasn't scared at all. Jumped right into the water and started swimming towards the float. He had a great time with his daddy :o)

First Word

Carson learned a new word yesterday.....Uh Oh! At first I thought it was an accident and he didn't really say what I thought he said, but after the 10th time he threw his food off the highchair, looked down and said it, I realized he knew what he was doing. I was so excited, I started throwing his food on the floor and saying it, too. These kids make you do weird things!

The Jim and Sue Nunn Training Center

We were so thrilled this weekend to go to the "grand opening" of the Jim and Sue Nunn Training Center up at Woodruff Scout Reservation. The building will be utilized during the summers as a staff retreat area, complete with fully stocked, state of the art, kitchen. A couple of people, mom included, will actually live in that building. It has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms inside. On the outside of the building, there are 2 or 3 full bathrooms for adults to use while at camp. During the school year, 2 of the bedrooms are converted to meeting rooms. There were so many people there on Sunday, faces we haven't seen in 20 years and some we just saw last week, but equally as wonderful. The entire Nunn family was there, including Jimmie and Pete. The only one missing was dad. Chris said it best when he said "I've turned around 3 times now and expected to see Jim". I knew what he meant. Dad was with us. You could just feel it. I know he was proud of this recognition.

Karate

We have recently signed Christian up for Karate. Our thought was whether or not he learns a lick of Karate, the dicipline you learn would be worth it. And it's pretty cool. He says token phrases during class like "Sir, Yes Sir, Yes I can, and I did it!" Yesterday they learned all about strangers and staying away from them. So far, we've been impressed. Now... if we can just get him to say those things outside of class.

Do Carson and Christian look alike?

If you've seen the boys, or pictures of the boys, you know they can look pretty similar sometimes and then others, not even close. But last night, Aunt LiLi, Christian and I went to a baseball game and Christian was telling LiLi that he looks like Chris and Carson looks like mommy. LiLi added "And you look like your brother". Christian thought about it and then agreed saying "Yes, sometimes I have red hair" :o)

Jamaica

Booked our flights yesterday for a trip to Jamaica in September. We are going with our good friends the Guzmans. So excited! While we are going to celebrate our 10 year anniversary, it will actually be over my birthday and the Guzmans' anniversary. Now... Chris and I have 4.5 months to lose our baby weight... yikes!

Dreams

Question from Christian the other day... Do you have dreams? Not the kind you have when you are sleeping, but the kind you have in your heart????

What do you say to that?

The Nunn Family

This is one of the last pictures my whole family took together. This is Thanksgiving 2004, I think. I was pregnant with Christian, Dad was still with us, Pete was in town from the military, Jimmie working at Home Depot and mom was settling in to living in Bent Tree. Good times...

Hailey Girl

Here's Hailey girl. Our first born. She's 10 years old this year. Chris and I got her 3 months after we were married. Chris actually picked her out of all these other puppies at the pound. She was the only one not barking trying to get his attention. She tends to get ignored these days and she and I "argue" a lot more. Mostly about how she always gets on the furniture and she's not "allowed" to do so. So, anyways, this blog is just to say I love you to Hailey and make sure she's on here with the rest of the family.

Carson and the Stairs

Tonight after dinner, I came home with the boys. Christian's eczema was getting kinda bad, so I told him we need to get him in an oatmeal bath (sounds gross, but really works). I put Carson in the playroom and run up the stairs to start the bath. While the water is running, I hear Christian coming up the stairs talking to me. So I tell Christian, go back downstairs and watch Carson for just one more minute and I'll come get him. I hear Christian still in the stairwell, so I listen to what he's saying. "MOM....Carson is on the stairs!!" Well, I know Carson can't climb stairs yet and he's just at the very bottom playing on the bottom step like he always does, so I tell Christian "okay, I'll be right there". I finish with the tub, head towards the stairs to go get Carson.... who is on the 4th stair up with the biggest grin I've ever seen. Times they are a changin! It's time for the baby gates!!!

The Easter Bunny

After he spent Easter with nana, Uncle Jim and Aunt Jill camping, we went to pick up Christian. We told him that we were sure the Easter Bunny came to see him because we told him where to find him at the campground. He said totally serious, "Mom. Dad. You are lying to me" We were a little surprised what Nana might have told him about the Easter Bunny this young. "What do you mean, Christian?". Again, totally serious, "You don't have to tell the Easter Bunny where I am... he's like Santa and he just knows!" Whew! Dodged that one!

Kat and Carson at the Tea Party

Carson and I were a little less than excited about the Tea Party, but still enjoyed seeing everyone down there. Wish we could have stayed for Sean Hannity!

My little protestor

Chris was very excited about the Atlanta Tea Party and really wanted the boys to go, too. So, along with Aunt LiLi, we went to the capital. There were over 15,000 people there and Christian really enjoyed showing everyone his sign. We did have to convince him though that the "bad men" weren't going to take his money that night.

Team sports?

We started Christian playing Tball this Spring. He's not quite sure what he thinks about it yet, but he's not that bad. He can hit the ball pretty good and can chase a baseball with the best of them. As you can see, he has a big fan club. Here's some pictures from his first game.
